Yep, the net got the best of me. Lost my long post, and I said I wasn't gonna type it all again. Here I am!
TGIF! And now a three day weekend. Very busy day, since I was down two assistants. One has been gone all week, and another was gone today. All this was planned, so I did have substitutes. Only problem, the subs cannot do all the duties that they are assigned to. They don't really know my students, and aren't specially trained for any specific student, like my assistants are. When there is a sub, I must change the diapers, assist with taking someone to the bathroom, and do a feeding in the cafeteria. It does get hectic, especially if I have more that one assistant out.
Not all my original post, not even close, but at least I came back, lol.

I know how crazy it is without assistants....I went without one for two months last year...SCREAM
It really is hard when you get assistants that don't help or just can't help because they just don't know how or what to do....we had a sub today and he basically sat all day long. He did participate during circle time but other than that he just sat. Hopefully, your help will be back to work next week for you.
Sorry about that....that is another benefit of being the OT in the room, I didn't have to do any of that stuff either(now with the 3 yo, if there's an accident, it's supposed to be my assistants job, but we sort of do whoever is free at the time. However, the accidents are relatively small compared to yours, and if it involves feces, we call the parents to come change them-school policy, which seems a bit much sometimes, but it encourages the parents to make sure their kids are really potty trained when they enroll them rather than have them come in pull-ups-which is what some of them do.
